Hi, I'm Keatley,
I’m driven, approachable and bad at writing CVs.
I love what I do and enjoy working with equally passionate storytellers. My story-driven editing work ranges from commercials and fashion films to music videos and short films.
Also, my recent work for INSTINCT has made the APA-recognised Shiny List.
If you would like to work with me, have any questions or just want to say hi, drop me an email.
Clients I've edited work for include:
Mind Bristol, Temperley London, Oxfam, Illicit Bloc, The Crown Estate, University of Oxford, University of Bristol, University of Southampton, Hoare Lea, Grayling, RTPI, JISC, The Royal Mint, Pukka Herbs...
INSTINCT | The Process
A lot of pre-production edit work went into creating this. I cut a timed animatic beat-for-beat to ensure each shot comfortably fit into the 30-second runtime.
Most of the post-production editing time was spent on VFX (I created the opening shot) and fine-tuning granular details, with a focus on movement and eye tracing to keep the viewer’s gaze engaged and directed.
DHL | Your Turn
I can only show you the opening 30 seconds, but within these 30 seconds, you'll see a 3D render of Earth, a superzoom and hidden cuts within an object POV shot.
This was all made in the confines of Premiere Pro and After Effects. The superzoom needed to be fast to mask the composited map imagery and drone footage as well as sound mixed to sell the speed.
Narratively this was an efficient way to link the worldwide reach of DHL to everyday moments with the company at your doorstep.
INSTINCT | Act iii - Intersections
INSTINCT wanted to showcase their ethos and style with this film, highlighting their partnership with artists and designers.
My first step was cutting together a radio edit to get the timing of the lines and music right before bringing in the visuals.
As much as this edit is infused with style, the substance of this piece is the brand's line of clothing so I ensured it got the screentime it needed.
Talking Futures | Tethered
Denise Van Outen leads viewers through the generational differences in education, guiding today’s parents toward Talking Futures.
Denise’s on-camera charisma drives the film, so I took a subtle approach in the editing to allow her performance to lead naturally.
The edit involved finding the right balance between the humour Denise brings to her lines and the serious message about ensuring that children have the best future opportunities.
Hoare Lea | It Makes Human Sense
A rich sound mix is the best way to elevate the feeling of presence in a space.
When editing this brand film about Europe's biggest garden, it was important to use a mix of diegetic, and non-diegetic sound effects to create that feeling. This complemented the camera team's excellent work of capturing the essence of the garden and its spaces.
World CC | Fresh Perspectives
Commerce and contracting is the most unaesthetic topic imaginable. Before being given the brief I was worried I was about to edit footage of paint drying.
Fortunately, this creative leant into the fantastic southern Spanish location and opted for non-traditional camera work. To match this avoidance of the status quo, I chose quick energetic cuts paired with the best interview sound bites to emphasise each point.
G.R.A.B. | 30s Narrative
A son gets suspicious when his father finds a Roman Numerals book a little too funny...
This project was an exercise in comedic editing confined to a commercial runtime.
